Evidence Based Practices

This section contains relevant resources on Evidence-Based Practice. Please note that by no means do we wish to endorse the studies listed in this section nor is the list intended to be exhaustive.

Definition of Evidence-Based Practices:

The integration of

  1. clinical expertise
  2. external scientific evidence, and
  3. client/patient perspectives

to provide high-quality services reflecting the interests, values, needs, and choices of the individuals we serve (Sackett et al., 2000)

Levels of Evidence

  • Not all evidence is equal.
  • Group Designs: Systematic Reviews, Meta-analysis, and Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) are considered superior to other designs.
  • Recommendation and practice guidelines should be graded too based on the strength of evidence.
